During my meetings and consultations with partners about Zalo’s features, I often receive many questions about how to name a Zalo Official Account (OA), especially for businesses or household businesses. Choosing the right name not only makes it easier for your OA to be approved but also ensures compliance with Zalo’s policies, avoiding legal issues or confusion. Let me share a detailed process based on my experience and official guidelines.
Basic OA Name Format

An OA name should follow a simple formula: OA Name = [Prefix] + Main Name + [Suffix]. This makes the name clear, professional, and accurately reflective of your business nature.
- The main name is the core part and must fall into one of the following three categories:
- The name of the business or household business as stated on the Business Registration Certificate.
- A brand name/trademark that has been granted a Certificate from the Intellectual Property Office.
- Another trade name, such as the name of a service type, product, or project your business operates (if it does not fall under the two categories above).
- Prefixes and suffixes are additional words that clarify the business type, industry, service, product, or branch. For example, you can add “Store,” “Branch,” or “Service” to make the OA name more understandable.
Important Notes When Naming
To ensure smooth OA verification, always follow the above format. If Zalo requests a name change, updates to your introduction, profile picture, or cover image, you can easily make updates via the management page: https://oa.zalo.me/manage/profile or go to Manage → OA Information Page → "Edit" button.
Other OA Name Regulations

Regulation | Content |
Name Length | Must contain letters, at least 2 characters, and no more than 40 characters. |
Capitalization | Only capitalize the first letter, proper nouns of businesses, or place names. |
Special Characters | No special characters (@*#?), emojis, or symbols are allowed. Note: If the OA name contains special characters because it matches your registered business/household business name or certified trademark, you must provide supporting documents to use it. |
Spelling | Vietnamese names must not be written without spaces, without diacritics, abbreviated, or with spelling mistakes. |
Website-based Names | If the OA name is based on a website/domain, format it as: [Full name with diacritics] + [full domain name without spaces or special characters] Example: For the website hangtonkho.vn, valid OA names include: “hangtonkhovn” or “Hàng tồn kho - hangtonkhovn”. |
Phone Numbers | OA names must not contain phone numbers. |
Generic Meanings | OA names must not contain generic terms unrelated to the business, its services, or products, and that may cause confusion (e.g., “Health is Gold,” “Healthy Sleep,” “No. 1 Binh Duong”) or clickbait phrases (e.g., “Guaranteed Cure”). Note: If the registered business name has a broad meaning (e.g., “Southern Equipment”), add a prefix such as “Company,” “Business,” “Household Business,” or “Store.” |
Duplicate Names | OA names must not duplicate existing, successfully registered OA names under the same phone number. |
Impersonation of Zalo/VNG | OA names must not impersonate Zalo/Zalo Shop/Zalo Ads, Zalo administrators, or VNG. |
Health Supplements | OA names for TPCN must include the product form, such as “capsules,” “TPCN,” or “effervescent tablets” (e.g., “Detox Effervescent Tablets”). |
Zalo does not allow business OAs to be registered in certain sensitive sectors to avoid confusion or fraud. Restricted areas include (but are not limited to):
- Misleading financial products and services, such as binary options.
- Public issuance of cryptocurrencies or activities related to cryptocurrencies.
- Auction models or similar business models.
After registration, your OA will be in a “Pending Approval” status. During this period, the Zalo OA admin team may request that you add a prefix/suffix for clarification or provide additional verification documents. This ensures transparency and credibility for the Zalo user community.
Special: OA Naming Guidelines for the Real Estate Sector
The real estate (BĐS) field often has additional rules due to the complexity of projects and branding. You should carefully consider whether to add the prefix “Project” to avoid being asked for edits or extra verification.
Cases Where “Project” Prefix Is Not Needed
- If the OA name specifically describesthe property type + location(e.g., “Đất nền Bình Định” – “Binh Dinh Land Lots”).
- If the OA name is the name of a completed property, without generic terms.
Cases Where “Project” Prefix Is Required
- When the OA name is a generic geographical term (province, city, district), e.g., “Dự án đất biển Vũng Tàu” – “Vung Tau Seaside Land Project” (to clarify it’s a specific project).
- When the OA refers to a specific real estate project in a defined location.
- When combining"property type + brand name"(brand must be officially recognized), e.g., “Dự án biệt thự Zalo” – “Zalo Villa Project.”
If the OA name does not specify the property type or include “Project,” and matches a major company/brand name, Zalo OA’s team will request additional verification. This protects stakeholders’ rights and prevents user confusion.
